Website Design for Nonprofit Organizations: Who’s Your Audience?

Creating a great Web site is an art form, but you do not have to be Picasso or Dali to create a good, solid, informative and engaging Web site. The first key is to know who’s your audience ? Many people say that there are 5 primary audiences of an organization’s Web site, however, I have identified these 6 target audiences.

1) Prospects. Your prospects are people who don’t know you, but have found you on the Web, or are people who you have recently met you are looking for information. They may have googled a key term that brought them to your Web site. They may have been referred by a friend. They may have seen an ad. For whatever reason they found their way to your Webs site. Do you have what they are looking for? Can they make an appointment to see your facility? Do you have any upcoming events? Can they contact the volunteer coordinator directly?
